Red Lantern

Antique red-painted tin ship’s lantern, measuring 9 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide. This compact lantern features a square body with a round brass-ringed glass lens on the front, vented chimney top, and decorative curled iron feet at the base. The bright red paint is period-appropriate, likely used to designate a port-side navigation light. The hinged back would have originally held an oil or kerosene burner. Its vibrant color, compact form, and nautical purpose make it both a collectible artifact and a charming decorative accent.
